Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan utilises breath along with dynamic movement to invigorate the body, strengthen the immune, endocrine, and nervous systems. Mantra is woven with the breath to focus the mind and to bring the emotional body under control. It is called the Yoga of Awareness because through this practice we seek with our breath to become conscious of how we interact and relate in the world with others. We learn self healing and responsibility.
If you want more experience with breath and the bhands (locks) then this is the yoga for you. No matter your practice you will deepen exposure to the finer points of yoga in Kundalini yoga classes.
Except for the Advanced class at 815 on Saturday mornings, all levels are always welcome in any Kundalini Yoga class - this is the way Yogi Bhajan taught Kundalini yoga.
Advanced Kundalini Yoga
Not for the first time Kundalini yoga student (except with permission of the instructor) this class allows us to go a little deeper with our Kundalini Yoga practice. Those having taken at least one other Kundalini class or an Introduction workshop are welcome, or with permission of the teacher.
Ashtanga Yoga
At Yoga House we teach a Level 1 class of the primary series of Ashtanga yoga as taught by Pattabis Jois, focusing on the standing and basic seated poses. This is a rigorous fast paced class that allows you to strengthen and stretch the body. We might open up the series to include some extra strengthening or stretching poses.
You should know the basic sun salutation before coming to this class.
Gentle Vinyasa Flow - for Beginners too!
Gentle Vinyasa Yoga focuses on re-awakening the body through breath, movement, stretching, and fluidity. The continuous flow of postures focuses on core strength and correct alignment. Gentle vinyasa is suitable for new or returning yogis/inis and individuals intimidated and intrigued by yoga.
For the first time student as well as the experienced yoga student, this class introduces students to the fundamentals of Vinyasa yoga; Sun Salutations, basic standing, balancing and seated poses. Students are taught how to link breath to movement as well as the energy locks, or "Bhandas," which increase stamina and awareness. Pranayama (breath work) and meditation techniques will also be incorporated to give students a broad exposure to the practice of yoga.
